II Ensanche

This is an extension of the I Ensanche area, both in terms of urban planning and commerce. The area has been boosted by the pedestrianisation of the southern section of Avenida Carlos III, which is now a wide promenade flanked by all kinds of specialist shops, combining local brands, franchises and well-known international brands: costume and standard jewellery, boutiques, accessories, household goods, sports equipment, lingerie, childcare items and clothing... and of course, bars and cafeterias whose terraces fill up the minute the sun comes out.

Mercado Nuevo

Mercado Nuevo

This market is now the busiest in the city. It has recently been refurbished and is a colourful and lively place, recommended for the excellent presentation and high quality of the produce on sale.

Plaza de la Cruz

Plaza de la Cruz

An enormous iron cross stands in the centre of this square, surrounded by a wide variety of shops, most of them exclusive boutiques. There is also a choice of restaurants: fast food, Italian, Chinese, Arabian and haute cuisine.

Calle Olite also has a wide range of shops: furniture, household decoration, accessories and gifts. It also has tapas and cocktail bars and a multiscreen cinema where a twice-weekly “cinema classics” cycle has been shown in recent years in collaboration with the Universidad Pública de Navarra.

Plaza de Conde Rodezno and Monumento a los Caídos

Monumento a los Caídos

At the southern end of Avenida Carlos III, this basilica-monument was built to honour the Nationalists who died in the Spanish Civil War. Its post-war design by Víctor Eúsa and José Yarnoz stands out due to its overbearing style. The basilica is now used for exhibitions, and during San Fermínes the square is home to the "Ciudad de los Niños" (Kids' City), where fun and games are provided for the little ones.
